How the Masters began
A meeting of Belgium's finest amateurs, born in 1993 and played every year on the fairways of the Golf de Falnuée.
In 1993, Eric and Jean Jottrand set out to create a championship worthy of the name, staged at the Golf de Falnuée.
A gathering of the champions, men and women, of every Belgian golf club: the country's very best amateurs in a single field. One goal, the lowest score over two 18-hole rounds at Falnuée (par 72).
Borrowed straight from the American "major", the word Masters says it all: the man and the woman who rise above the very best.
Created in 1993 by Céline Ververs, the bronze trophy is awarded to the Champion of Champions. A larger, unique piece is handed for one year to the club that tops the interclub standings. It portrays the champion stepping out from the field of players.
